It is taking about 8 to 9 business days to process. This does not include the courier time. For my wife's passport we got it after two days because VFS handed the passport to Blue Dart after the cut off time at Chennai. We had our interview on 7th of Dec and we got our PP's on 20th and 22nd. I would not recommend any changes to the airline tickets until you get your PP in hand.

Thanks. I have seen this document before, and if we are both looking at the same place (top of page 10), this is an average estimate that sweeps lot of detail under the carpet. USCIS's yearly updates (http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/Local%20Processing%20Times_FINAL_11Aug08.pdf) reveal more. As I said earlier, depending on where you live, your processing time can be anywhere between 5 and 15 months. From my visits to several naturalization-related threads, I have rarely seen anybody who became citizen under at least 1 year, going as far back as 2002. You are right, we won't expect another rush now as it was in year 2007 (compare the "Total" number naturalized in 2008 with that in 2007, Table 2, page 3, here (http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/statistics/publications/natz_fr_2008.pdf)). But then, who knows what can happen after 5 years.

What is IV's position on more H1Bs?
IV does not support, nor oppose H1-increase as far as I know, that is not on the agenda at all. IV was formed by and for EB -applicants to ease some of the hardships faced by the EB Community and to end the visa-number unavailability and retrogression.

I would strongly suggest everyone to acquaint himself/herself with the legislative process and how a bill moves through different phases / steps before it becomes a law. You can find many postings documenting the process.
Right now it is just introduced in the senate. The problem for us is that Sen Durbin is Democratic Whip (i.e. Assistant Majority Leader) which gives him tremendous influence over garnering votes and referring which legislation to consider to the Majority Leader (Harry Reid in the Senate). Ultimately Reid decides which legislation get priority consideration. The fact that Grassley is a Republican and is close to the Minority Leader (I think) does not help us either. We will monitor the progress of the bill.

So How come all we hear from the core team is requests for contribution? There is no detail of any actions/efforts that are happening currently? It will certainly be more engaging for all members to at least know what efforts are being worked on currently? I think expectations need to work both ways otherwise you just have an autocratic organization that has to follow and do as the leaders choose to do. I know you are a committed member and you contribute as well. You have been helping the holiday thread to be on the top too. I was talking about my IV holiday fund raising to one of my co-worker who is a US citizen and who does not have an Indian/ Asian ethnic background and he had mentioned to me you guys are 25,000 people and all of you are hard working legal immigrants. you dont need to go to anyone else for money. your group is financially very strong. If all of you put in 10$ each month you will have 250K funds available every month. What you should really work on is get every member to commit to that 10$ every month. What can we do to get every one of us put in that 10$ every month?
I have read my post couple of times before posting to avoid any mis-communication...but it's never possible to prevent I believe:)
I have a recurring contributions setup and also contributed what ever I could this holidays...probably will contribute more before the end of the season. My post is not about the Monthly contributions made by you, me or many others...who signed up.
It's about the ones' who cannot for what ever the reason may be....you and me pointing to the salaries or house-hold incomes will not help them join the wagon.
It's about increasing the donations irrespective of people joining the monthly-contributions scheme....Other viable options...may be having a IV donation boxes...in immigrant owned businesses....etc.
In an ideal world as you mentioned atleast 20000 of 25000 will contribute monthly....It's defintely good to aim for that....but that's not realistic.

Ironically, in the entire time, since GC process began , it is only last 2 months that were most stressful but rest of the time, I didn't even care when dates will become current etc.etc..was just going with flow. I wouldn't want to repeat time from Aug 10th to Nov 2nd.--just waiting, waiting and waiting..and nothing happening.
If USCIS becomes more transparent and follows FIFO strictly.then that itself will give lot of relief to waiting applicants.
