You are saying new OBAMA govt. in many of your postings. Are you his election agent?. This forum is not for any party affiliations. Election is yet to start. Democratic party is not officially announced their candidate. All powerful President Bush is tried hard to help immigrants. Then how come a weak person who is still fighting for a ticket can take left and right congress and senete veterans.!!!!!!

Joining the State chapter and help grassroots efforts is an ongoing action item and everyone here MUST join your State chapter and contribute towards grassroots efforts.
Nothing much can be achieved by writing individual emails.

Completely understand. No problem. Being in the hellhole of backlogs and the gaps between jobs, benches(not a pleasant time period in consulting) etc is the worst kind of hell and under those circumstances even $10 is worth much much more than $10. Your belief in this mission is invaluable.

Using H1B makes one safe. but how many years we want to do the safe job. If I-485 gets denied do u have enough patiences to file another green card. One thing is believe is "We are here to make money, most of us are in our thirties and we have short time remaining to reach our goals. I think we all have one year EAD. wait for 6 months then go on job hopping, learn whatever you can, get into whatever you want. Start a business, do something.... Anything you do will help you in future. Sitting with H1B in pocket may take 4 years cream of your life.
If you have the talent you can get great salaries anywhere in the world. Because of your talents and hard work you guys are here. World is not small.

The intent of the H1B program is not to bring people in the country in "Anticipatory mode" as you put it. The intent of the H1B program had always been for US employers to hire foreign skilled workers "On-Demand" when no american is willing, qualified or able to do the said job. Prior to 1999, the visa cap was 65000/yr WITHOUT the extra master's degree cap we have now, and still visas were never totally used up for any year, certainly not on the first day. It is only after the advent of the IT consulting companies hoarding visas in "anticipation" of future jobs that the problems started. Without any restrictions on this kind of abuse, no amount of H1 visa increase would be sufficient. They are talking of raising visas to 130,000 right? Based on the FY 2008 applications, those visas would be used up in TWO DAYS!

Mr. Dobbs is known for his strong views against immigrants, including considering immigrants to be responsible for the spread of incurable diseases such as Drug-resistant Tuberculosis, Leprosy etc. From past experience on CNN, he is also highly likely to blame the current crisis in Auto Industry to the so-called "importation of cheap labor from third world countries".
In the interests of fairness, you should also air the counter-views while providing coverage to such strong one-sided views. This would provide a balanced coverage to your viewers.
In the absence of such unbiased coverage, Mr. Dobbs verbal attacks may provoke physical attacks against foreigners as well as any foreign-looking persons by misguided elements provoked by your show. If such incidents do happen, please understand that your network will be indirectly responsible and liable to the foreigners affected.
As a concerned party I would like to know -
1) What action your network is taking to provide coverage of the other point of view, in the interests of fairness?
2) What action is your network taking to ensure that Lou Dobbs verbal attacks on foreigners do not translate into physical attacks on foreigners living in Michigan?

There have been a lot of updates sent out via the verified state chapter mailing lists. If you are not part of any state chapter please check this page http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=72&Itemid=52 and if there is no state chapter for your state, you can request to become member of a neighboring state chapter.

I know the post was entirely wrong and foolish.
But I feel that I am in the dark about IV activities for the past one year.
I am one of the silent IV Supporters and long time (from the beginning) monthly contributing IV Member.
It would be better to have a special thread/monthly bulleting page from IV to tell the members to know about IV activities or progress.
After the last year July fiasco issue I have not seen any posting about IV activities on the web site other than lot of threads and could not able to figure out the work IV is exactly doing.
I strongly believe because of IV core team only we were able to come through successful in July 2007 Bulletin issue. But do not know what else is IV doing for the past 12 months.
The Flowers, Letters and Phone Calls is not working as we expect. I do not know about other activities other than sending letters and phones during every congress session.
I believe IV need to do some thing different. There is no media reports about legal immigration issue (not for IV) for the past one year.
My perspective is that we need to find a way that Media and Public will aware of the issues we face every day.
I am not questioning the IV Core Team. It would be great if the IV members know some details about IV activities every month in a bulletin or thread etc.

I watched the whole debate, unfortunately ( as expected) they never touched on the question we voted on or the other most popular question about Katrina. There were other popular question too like NASA related stuff which never made it.

I have been a IV member since 2006 . I have seen the ups/downs . donated money , sent letters , attended rallies and done whatever has been been proposed . But I see that many senior members who had the drive to motivate people are not sending or being part of any messages or threads at all and that is exactly why the movement seems to be losing steam .
The standard response that I see to any question is "have you donated money ? " . "Don't ask for anything till you have donated. " this is followed by some some red dots which normally works to silence the questions. People will be willing to donate when they believe in the movement . I remember we collected $ 30,000 in 1 month before the rally there was huge thread with all the donations . People were charged up and the money came up automatically . I am willing to donate but to be brutally honest I do not see the same level of motivation as was there in 2006 / 2007 days .Please use this as a wakeup call and not as reason to vent your frustration on me .
There are many senior members who I do not even see any more . Members joining in late 2007 or early 2008 will not know any of these guys .
Aman Kapoor . He is the founder of IV . I have not seen his messages since the past 3 years almost . Where is he ? Is it too much for him to send a greeting in New years eve motivating the members ? It takes just 2 minutes .
Mark Bartosik :- He was supposed to the spokesperson for IV .The guy with the MasterCard sign for immigration . I have not seen him for quite some time now

a) Walden Pond
b) There was a this British Girl from San Jose ( had a handle which had name like Rose or something )
c) Niloufer Bustani from Dallas. I see her once in a while but very sparingly .
The others even I have forgotten completely.
The only leadership/core that I see is Pappu and no one else . If you have a country where the prime minister shows his face only once in 4 years , how are the people supposed to believe in that movement ? Please don't reply with a message saying what have I done or why can't I contribute money ? I have done that I am looking for leadership to show us the way and motivate us . All campaigns don't need money donations( Letters , calls , faxes etc ) . We could start with that and then drum up support and momentum and then the money will start flowing in automatically . There has to be a synchronized campaign organized by the leadership and all I see is everybody putting their eggs in the basket called spillover.

I agree with anands26 to an extent. We just need fresh ideas and activities going on while we wait for something to happen.
If we are not able to attract new members at a great rate we should atleast make sure we get to retain the existing strength.Word of mouth can only get you so much.
How about making professional grade media clips and posting the link on different websites? The one on IV we have now looks amateurish and doesnt quite do any justice to the org(with all due respects to the person in the clip). Its all about the outlook. People will tend to take us more seriously if we can do a few slick video clips with statistics,interviews(with different nationals) and such.Recruit an (not so expensive)Ad agency.Seeing is believing.It could probably boost the membership level too.Lets not sell ourselves short.
I also agree with anands26 on attacking the ideas instead of the person. If the leadership needs a slap on the hand so be it. Lets encourage some constructive criticism.Last week we witnessed a lot of personal attacks and guess who was doing it?

Question is who will implement these ideas. People giving these ideas should join state calls and implement them.

I also agree with anands26 on attacking the ideas instead of the person. If the leadership needs a slap on the hand so be it. Lets encourage some constructive criticism.Last week we witnessed a lot of personal attacks and guess who was doing it?
Alien, I don't think any one has prevented any one else giving fresh ideas. constructive criticism.
Question is who will implement these ideas. People giving these ideas should join state calls and implement them.
Anands can give new ideas but such ideas should be heard in the state forums / conference calls.
Otherwise it will be just a 5 minutes of useless blogging.
Also want to add , IV Core had ideas and had been spending personal time to implement them. Can AnandS and others who are criticizing can step forward and spend their time?

Ok, clearly you did not read what I wrote or you did not understand it. Here is what I wrote..
"Well, I don't think gctest is against EB3. He is against consultants from sleazy bodyshopping companies, which is right.". Some one left me a red saying "not all consultants from sleazy bodyshopping companies are incapable." I agree and I never said that. If I came across that way then I apologize.
Everybody is trying to survive in this world ..diff people react differently to same situation..lying on resume/achievements is not illegal(reason y no body is prosecuted because of this fact..they are simply denied that benefit) however its unethical ..but iam not here to preach ethics.

My point to say all companies lie/manipulate things to certain extent..desi consultants atleast dont deprive lives like other BIG companies where shareholders are kept in dark until they realize that company is no more worth anything.
Comparing one wrong doing with another does not justify as an argument. It is actually a logical fallacy. In other words, 2 wrongs do not make a right. Try doing that in the court of law.
Iam not supporting any malpractises are anything anyways this is not a criminal thing its just immoral ..
Malpractices are criminal (if law is violated) but a corporation cannot be tried criminally because it cannot go to jail.:)
You may have noted that I did not bring up morality even though I wanted to because everyone has a different measuring stick for it.
however if theres a loop hole and people want to chance it its upto them. They will be appropriately denied if they are caught, However its not like they are killing anybody.
I totally agree with that. Also, I don't think they will be denied because they did not do anything wrong. System provides them with an option for doing so.
Finally what do you think when even govt is planning to make illegals legals ..its respecting peoples wishes against legal things(ofcourse they get benifitted)Humanity/compassion is number one..rules are for our well being ..they are not hard and fast.
